The injured Thiago Silva joins casualties Milan against Barça

Thiago Silva is out to play on Wednesday.
Van Bommel is suspended and Abate, Pato and Inzaghi injured.
Robinho has not trained with the group today and is doubtful.

The relapse muscle Thiago Silva, forced by Massimiliano Allegri for Milan-Roma as coach himself acknowledged the 'Rossoneri' after defeat (2-1) the team of Luis Enrique, is even less in the box Barça's rival quarterfinal round of the Champions League next Wednesday (20.45 h.). Besides the Brazilian centre-back lower sense, whose comeback for the return of Tuesday, April 3 (20.45 h.) at the Camp Nou is not yet clear, the AC Milan team may also have other important pieces.

The former azulgrana Mark van Bommel is suspended for accumulation of yellow cards in the continental showpiece. Neither Antonio Abate, bravo right wingerpossible to play through injury, while Antonio Cassano, who has not returned after his heart problems, or Alexandre Pato will be available to play in the attack. Maxi López, down to Roma by a blow, they will discharge to face his former club, while the big question is Robinho, who is playing Allegri although forgetfulness is also given for almost discarded. The everlasting Filippo Inzaghi, 38, will also be two or three weeks on the sidelines due to a hamstring injury.

Under such conditions, Allegri must improvise eleven against Barça. Everything indicates that, with Christian Abbiati in goal, Alessandro Nesta, who returned the call on Saturday, will start at the center back Philippe Mexès and with the unfortunate and replace Thiago Silva. Daniele Bonera and Gianluca Zambrotta former Barcelona are the favorites to take the wings at the rear but not be ruled out Luca Antonini at left. At the core of predictable 4-3-1-2, veteran Massimo Ambrosini will function as a midfielder Van Bommel and will be flanked by Antonio Nocerino (apperceived only sanction of Milan) and the former Real Madrid player Clarence Seedorf, a defensive midfielder on Tuesday past against Juventus in Coppa, and Alberto Aquilani as Sulley Muntari, fixed in recent games, not enrolled in the Champions League, as Gennaro Gattuso. Even Urby Emanuelson has options to complete the midfield.

The playmaker is untouchable Kevin-Prince Boateng, who played the last 35 minutes against Roma, and threaten to repeat his great match against Barça November with great goal included. Up front, Ibrahimovic will be the reference and, pending on whether Robinho miraculously recovers, Stephan The Shaarawy, 19, share with many papers for the grant. Robinho has not trained with the group in training on Sunday morning at Milanello but still has a morning session on Tuesday to improve.

The Egyptian-born Italian was not even registered for the Champions league in September but in recent weeks is noted for his quickness to take advantage of the spaces generated by Ibra. The other candidate is Maxi López, who replaced Zlatan Juventus-Milan in the Coppa last Tuesday and even scored a goal.

Adriano Correia, almost ruled out at Barca
Pep Guardiola has fewer problems for the appointment on Wednesday at San Siro. Adriano Correia is practically ruled out after elongation in the semimembranosus muscle of the right leg. Carles Puyol will take his place at left back whenever the Brazilian leisonó days after it became known that Eric Abidal will undergo a liver transplant. The other long-term absences in barcelonistas schemes are David Villa, Ibrahim Afellay and Andreu Fontàs. (via MD)

Messi, a new record: 35 league goals, a new Barça record

The Argentine international just keeps on breaking all the record. This time he has beaten the Club record of 34 league goals in a season held by Brazilian striker Ronaldo since the 1996/97 season. His current tally stands at 35. He also equalled Philip Cocu’s record of 205 appearances.

Once again, Messi proved to be decisive. He opened the scoring against Mallorca on Saturday night and set Barça on the road to victory. The goal, his 35th in the league this season, established a new Club scoring record for league goals in a season. Since the 2009/10 season he had shared the previous record of 34 along with former Brazilian striker Ronaldo.

The league’s highest scorer is enjoying a particularly productive run. He has scored for the last eight consecutive matches, including five in the league, accumulating a total of 18 goals in that period. So far this season he has scored an impressive 55 goals.

Messi made his 205th league appearance against Mallorca and thereby equalled Phillip Cocu’s record as the foreigner who has made the most appearances for Barça. He looks set to surpass the record previously held by the former Dutch international and current PSV manager in the next game against Athletic Club. Fans may remember that last December Messi equalled and then passed Cocu’s record as the foreign player who has made the most competitive appearances for Barça.

Just last Tuesday, he smashed the long-standing Club scoring record previously held by Cesar Rodriguez with a valuable hat trick against Granada. (via FCBarcelona.com)

[Former player] Ibra bursts by Thiago Silva injury

The Swedish forward complained about the technical and medical methods of Milan.
"You have to change anything, it is normal that we are suffering so many injuries."
Allegri admits that forced Silva and sees "impossible" to play against Barça on Wednesday.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has reignited the flame of controversy within Milan a few days measured to Barça in quarter-finals of the Champions League.

After the match against Roma, the team 'Rossoneri' lost to Thiago Silva muscle injury after ten minutes of play, the Swede spoke loud and clear on the continuous setbacks suffered by his team: "We have to change something, is not normal that we are suffering so many injuries. This is the time to play and make a difference. "

Adriano will not come to Milan

The Brazilian full-back is not in San Siro on Wednesday to not recover in time of elongation.

Pep Guardiola knows he can not count on either side with Adriano Correia facing the momentous Wednesday's match against Milan at San Siro.

In recent days had been fueled hopes that the player could be available for the meeting of Champions, but the reality has fallen under its own weight and both doctors and therapists have recommended that force to get to the game against Milan , aware that he faces a substantial risk of further injury. And is that the medical statement after the game against Granada diagnosed last Tuesday in the semimembranosus muscle elongation-owned-hamstring in his right leg, predicting a time of "about ten days off."

For the party of Milan would be met eight days and hoped to restore the player to time, but eventually ruled out this option in order to avoid a greater evil. That means that against Milan, Pep will have no left-born and have to improvise, either putting Puyol or playing with a defense of three. (via SPORT)

The Reus appeared at the time in which the subsidiary was not demonstrated that the course and has the makings of a leader on the pitch.

His performance this season has been largely influenced by alternate often calls his team's first contest at Barça B. The player could only play 16 of the 29 games with the second team Blaugrana. A total of 1,350 minutes that it has signed three goals. Facing each Guadalajara and the two did last Sunday against the Alcorcón. Indeed, the arrival is one of its main virtues, as Pep Guardiola could check with his two goals this season with the first team against BATE Borisov in the Champions League and in the second leg of the knockout final of the Copa del Rey in Pamplona against Osasuna.

Sergi Roberto is highly appreciated by Guardiola for having a profile different from regular midfielders in the cantera. In addition to the technical quality, the player adds a strength and driving the ball that allows you to break the opposing lines and surprising appearing from behind. Characteristics that might have some parallels with Fàbregas and Seydou Keita.

The Santpedor given the opportunity in the biggest game of the previous intense exercise, nothing more and nothing less than the Santiago Bernabéu against Real Madrid in return committed the semifinals of the Champions League. Sergi jumped onto the field in the closing minutes of the meeting and helped to maintain the advantage of 0-2 on the scoreboard.

Ayza Gámez unfairly expelled Thiago

The decision of the collegial Valencian left Barcelona with only ten players for over half an hour and conditioned the team play.

A decision Ayza Gámez conditioned meeting and forced Barcelona to an extra effort to counter the momentum of Mallorca. The referee interpreted as Thiago hand control to the shoulder was the second yellow hispanobrasileño.

The canterano was still one of the most inspired players azulgrana set and unjust expulsion was a setback for the team and a few minutes of excitement for Barcelona.

Gámez's decision also meant an unprecedented situation: Barcelona has suffered three expulsions in the last four games. A rarity for a team that is always leading from the ball. Mascherano, Piqué, Alves and Thiago have seen sometimes rigorous, sometimes unfairly, had to leave the field early.

The coach azulgrana unde rstands that this is an anomaly for a team that features a lively game of possession. That's why yesterday lamented that the team was both penalizen certain actions. The expulsion of Thiago also had a direct impact on a game that Barcelona had previously controlled.

It was precisely to keep the premises ten when pressed for Barcelona and the azulgranas lost 10% of location and ownership. As a result Guardiola found no place for much of the second half until Piqué came to the rescue with a bit more like a center forward than a centre-back.

The defender of both the team calmed down and regained its best despite playing 35 minutes with ten. With yesterday's decision of the college continues to increase the discomfort of club referees in recent weeks. An increasingly visible unrest in Guardiola himself.

Currently the club azulgranano raises use the second card, nor Thiago has high hopes that the Competition Committee, as it did in the case of Real Madrid Sergio Ramos decided withdraw the card. (via SPORT)

"It will be a tough opponent, sure, because it is in a situation that want to leave," said the coach.

Eusebio Sacristán will have to approach the game against Valencian with significant casualties, as Bartra, Muniesa, Montoya and Tello are invited for the first team for the match against Mallorca. In addition, Rafinha still doubt the trouble is in the quadriceps of the right leg. However, the azulgrana coach does have available Dongou, Patric, and, new, Jordi Quintillà, the Juvenil A.

"

Piqué: "We deserved the three points"

The central defender, scorer of the match winner, praised the team’s attitude after Thiago was given his marching orders.

Mascherano highlighted the team’s defence, while Pedro said that the team’s confidence is sky high.

After taking the three points from the complicated match against Mallorca (0-2), the Barça players are keen on making a comeback in La Liga. The Barça players said it’s essential to keep on winning points to put pressure on the League leaders.

The match winner was scored by Gerard Piqué, who recognised the difficulty of winning the match especially after Thiago was sent off. “It was very hard to win, especially with 10 men,” said the defender.

Piqué, however, said that his team deserved the win: “the three points are very important and we deserved them.”

The defender said that the pitch made “the ball unpredictable,” but that the team perfectly overcame the problem and put in a good performance. “We tried to control the match; they wanted to equalise, but we played well with 10 players,” said Piqué.

The footballer also said that his team needs to keep on winning to cut into Real Madrid’s lead at the top of the table: “we’re three points behind momentarily, but the most important thing is that our title hopes are still alive. What really matters is winning and we’ve managed to earn a great victory.”

Finally, he said that Barça needs to focus on one match at a time to keep the team’s winning streak alive. “Winning matches in La Liga and Champions League reinforces out morale,” he concluded.

Here are some of the statements made by the FC Barcelona players after the match:

Javier Mascherano:

“We have to do our work in the best way possible; always looking to see how the leaders are doing.

“Against Mallorca we kept our composure. We withstood the pressure after losing a player and with the 0-2 the game got a bit easier because there wasn’t much time left.

“I feel great playing in the back line in a position that’s a bit weird for me on the right. But we did a good job and our defence was great.

“It was a difficult match; starting tomorrow, we have to start thinking about AC Milan. The away leg will be important in the tie.”

Pedro Rodríguez:

“It was a complicated match, the pitch wasn’t in the best condition, but we’re pleased with this victory.

“The team reacted well after the red card, it’s difficult to beat Mallorca because they pressure you a lot and they have players that take advantage space.”

On Thiago’s double booking: “it looked as though it wasn’t a handball, but it’s a difficult call to make for a referee. We have to accept it.

“We have to keep on doing our job like we have been, playing our games and winning them. We feel great, with a lot of confidence, and we’ll keep fighting until the end.” (via FCBarcelona.cat)

The best and worst of Mallorca-Barça

THE BEST

The ability to overcome the expulsion of Thiago Alcántara. Barça played better after the expulsion and knew how to do something I had not known to other parties: managing your advantage. Guardiola turned to move the ball avoiding unnecessary risks. The result of this work came Piqué's goal with which the azulgranas sealed the game.

THE WORST

The unjust expulsion of Thiago. Although it is one of those faults that can whistle, if we stick to the rules, it is a play that does not involve any infringement. The player did not touch the ball with his hand but did not consider Ayza Gámez well. (via SPORT)

[Selection] Messi 'causes' a claim to the Federation of Costa Rica

A fan sued the Costa Rican Football Federation for their country "misleading advertising" by not being able to see Lionel Messi play when Argentina played in San José last year.

Gustavo Esquivel's attorney filed the application with the Office of the Consumer, which accused the Federation have announced the presence of a class for Argentina, including FC Barcelona player Leo Messi, according to local media reports.

The Barça player was not ranked in the match played in late March 2011, crash that marked the inauguration of the modern national football stadium built in the Costa Rican capital of China for donation. On that occasion, it was argued that Messi had been injured.

In that game ranked no other star players from Argentina, as Esteban Cambiasso, Javier Zanetti and Angel di Maria, although they were part of the form that came to Costa Rica.

The Office of the Consumer has the right to Esquivel, he said the local newspaper 'La Teja' and a radio. However, the Football Association on Friday filed an appeal.

Esquivel has tried to make back the money for three tickets purchased at a price of 234,000 colones (about 380 euros) and to punish the Federation for violation of consumer law.

The respective office reported the resolution to the city last Tuesday. The Consumer Ombudsman referred a similar complaint filed by another citizen who said he felt "cheated," said a spokeswoman for the agency. (via SPORT)

[Youth] FCB Juvenil A 2 - 0 CD San Francisco

The team led by Óscar García is imposed on the whole Balearic thanks to goals from Pol Calvet and Brian and tied at the top of the leaderboard with Espanyol, who has given a draw against Mallorca.

With three league games, direct confrontation with the entity-white on the penultimate day of competition will be key to winning the title and reach the Champions Cup.

La Liga is equalized in the struggle to be the champion of Group 3. After the victory against San Francisco in Field 7 of the Ciudad Deportiva Sant Joan Despi, players barcelonistas top the competition level on points with RCD Espanyol.

The set culé has left the pitch in order to convict soon their fourth straight win. In a match completely controlled, the rival has just shaken the seriousness of the azulgranas defense. And is that the Balearics, who came to Can Barça with a poor record at home but located in a comfortable eighth position, have turned in their field waiting to take a kickback.

However, the Juvenil A has managed to keep time and, from his superiority in the grass, is ahead on the scoreboard thanks to a goal from Pol Calvet. A magnificent Miguel Ángel's assistance after Ernesto recover the ball, has enabled the front set and open the can only half an hour of play. Minutes later, Brian has sealed the three points with a great shot on a shot from far left profile. Thus, barcelonistas will come from San Francisco, against an opponent who lost in the first round.

After the break, the players culés have dominated the game but have not come up with excessive risk to the goal of Oustin. The azulgrana have only been approached in a couple of times, while the visiting team has stretched itself more in the field to try to reduce distances in the light. However, the marker has not moved and Barça has not suffered at any time to maintain the result.

Cornellá, RCD Espanyol and Badalona are the last obstacles to be first in Group 3 División de Honor, and thus achieve a place that gives access to the Champions Cup, a competition in which the azulgranas defend the conquest of last year. With the win against San Francisco, players are placed Óscar García with 71 points and already mentalizan to play the 28th game of the season in the always difficult Cornellá field. Guardiola: "We didn’t lament when we were down to 10 men, we worked harder”

The Barça manager said that victory against Mallorca was a tremendously important win, especially seeing how the team reacted after Thiago was sent off on 56 minutes.

“The attitude displayed by this team makes me proud,” said the manager.

Josep Guardiola was pleased with his team’s victory in Mallorca (0-2). The manager said that this win will help “prepare the right tone” for Barça ahead of the Champions League match this Wednesday against AC Milan. “Despite everything, with our effort and not complaining, we came out ahead and we won,” said the manager. He was also pleased with the team’s attitude after Thiago was shown a red card: “we didn’t complain when we were down to 10 men, we worked harder.”

The Barça boss highlighted the level of sacrifice shown by the players in his team: “we have players with the ability to help the team. Not for their good, but for others. We’re very fortunate that we have these players with us.”

The manager then went on to praise the attitude shown by the team throughout the competition: “we have always had a hard time. In these last four years, where we’ve won almost everything, we’ve been exemplary. At the beginning, the season seems very long and you let yourself go a bit, and our opponents aren’t forgiving. We’re at the end now and we know it. You can’t measure effort, we either all work for the same goal or we won’t make it. The players have put in a tremendous amount of effort."

Barça was reduced to 10 men at the beginning of the second half when Thiago was shown his second yellow card. Guardiola said: “we have about 70% to 75% of possession in almost every game. Of every 10 minutes, we have the ball for 7. But we’re the most penalized, sometimes it’s hard to understand. If someone is ejected from a game for any reason, we have to accept it - and we do and we keep on playing.”

Lastly, Josep Guardiola talked about the recent decisions made by the Competition Committee and the Referee Technical Committee, saying that “they need to demand respect.” He added: “it’s been a while now that the committees haven’t demanded respect. We’re at a point where everything is too suspicious. There are too many things that they’ve let pass, and in the end they haven’t made themselves respected. Gerard [Piqué], with what he said, probably deserved a ban. But they don’t do it, of course, because if there’s another player that says that his team was robbed, they’d have to ban him too. This has been going on for a while, and they [the committees] urgently need to reestablish respect.” (via FCBarcelona.com)

600 goals since Guardiola took charge of the Barça bench

FC Barcelona have scored 600 goals in official matches since Guardiola took charge of the Barça bench in 2008/09. This year they’ve scored 150 goals per season, averaging 2.57 goals per game.

Furthermore, the team is on the verge of breaking the Club record of most goals scored in a single season.

Josep Guardiola’s Barça have won 170 of their 233 official matches in all competitions (73% win rate) and they’ve scored 600 goals, averaging 2.57 per game. The first was scored by Samuel Eto’o in the Camp Nou against Wisla Cracovia, in the 2008/09 season pre-Champions League playoff. The 600th goal was scored this Saturday by Piqué against Mallorca. Only Cruyff’s Dream Team, who scored 870 in 430 official matches, have scored more (averaging 2.02 goals per game).

This Barça side have another record in their corsairs: the most goals scored in a single season. Guardiola’s team set the record in 2008/09 when they bagged 158 goals. This year, however, with at least 12 matches to go, they’ve scored 152 goals; only 7 adrift of the record.

Messi, 193 of the 600

[Liga BBVA; Week30] RCD Mallorca 0 - 2 FC Barcelona

Goals from Messi and Piqué either side of half time gave Barça a vital win, with Thiago’s sending off the only negative as Guardiola’s men continue to hunt down the leaders.

FC Barcelona beat Mallorca 0-2 tonight in a game that is bound to strengthen the group’s morale. Messi opened the scoring directly from a free kick in the first half and Piqué got the second with ten minutes left to play when the team were down to 10 men following Thiago’s second yellow. Despite being a man down, Guardiola’s team – with 9 home grown players on the pitch –never lost control of the game and took the three points to close the gap still further on Real Madrid.

The win was Barça’s ninth on the run and their seventh in La Liga since their defeat in Pamplona and the perfect preparation for Wednesday’s Champions League tie in Milan.

Mallorca came out strongly and Barça found it hard to dominate their possession in the first 10 minutes or so, but they then upped their pressure and Messi nearly opened his account, only for Aouate to stop his effort.

Playing without full backs and with a three man defence made up of Piqué, Puyol and Mascherano, Barça began to get at the Mallorca goal with increasing ease and in one such attack, Alexis Sánchez won a foul on the edge of the box which Messi whipped across the area. Although it looked as if Alexis himself might have got a touch at the back post, the referee gave the goal to Messi – believing the free kick had gone straight in.

Barça now really upped the pace and Alexis came close to doubling the lead with a powerful shot that shuddered the bar.

Things turned more difficult after the break when Thiago saw his second yellow for a rigorous looking handball and Guardiola reacted to going a man down by bringing on Montoya for Cesc and the Keita for Pedro.

The changes did their trick as the team managed to continue to dominate possession despite playing with only 10 and enjoyed a number of long periods holding on to the ball and frustrating their hosts. That superiority allowed Piqué to sneak into attacking positions and on 80 minutes he was rewarded with a goal when a Messi effort came back off the woodwork for the Catalan centre back to slide home. [Former B player] Arteta reveals that while in La Masia escaped to party

"I do not want to, but there were some guys who insisted me or caused me saying 'do not have eggs," says the former azulgrana.
The Barcelona caught him "and was very, very hard on me. That day I realized that to succeed in football you should concentrate on your game."

The former azulgrana Mikel Arteta, who also underwent PSG, Real Sociedad, Rangers and Everton before joining Arsenal last summer to fill the vacancy left by Cesc Fàbregas has confessed to 'The Sun' that during his stay at La Masia (1999-2001) escaped "a couple of times" to party and FC Barcelona "was very, very hard on me" when he was caught.

"That day I realized that if I wanted to succeed in football should concentrate fully on my game and not go to those kids who had led me to join their nights out."

Again according to Arteta, who was 16 back then, "I really do not want to leave, but they insisted me or caused me saying 'do not have eggs.' I shared a room with Pepe ReinaVíctor Valdés, Carles Puyol and Andrés Iniesta that was the quality he had. just had to look to find Iniesta and at that time would come to the first team. But there were other young people who are not so focused and whose character was different, with less dedication to missing one or another training session and you let go 'come on, let's jump the fence and let's go for' partying '. it's easy to lose your head when he is' almost there' as a player. "

Arteta, who turns 30 next Monday, also noted in the British tabloid that after being 'caught' by the club blaugrana never violated the rules of procedure and recommends candidates to crack that "do not listen to people who flatters you and trying to lead you astray. at these times you have to sculpt the character and learn to avoid any temptations. have to listen to people telling you 'hold', 'beware' or clearly says' today you've been evil ', not that you want to carry gear. Now I know how important they were my parents for me. My mother even quit her job to come and live in Barcelona (from Euskadi, where he is from Mikel) and lean ".

Coincidence or not, during the winter of 2000-01 season Arteta was loaned to PSG for Barça and did not return to azulgrana dressing. (via SPORT)
