Van Persie endorse Podolski and its future remains unclear

Robin van Persie still does not renew his contract with Arsenal ... while praising the quality of their probable 'heir' new signing Lukas Podolski.

The Dutch forward is released in June 2013 and several clubs have called on their door inquiring about his signing. One of the stakeholders could be FC Barcelona.

Podolski, Cologne forward, will join Arsenal this summer, and their qualities are similar to those of the striker still 'gunner'.

"I'm happy: it is a mature player who has played 95 times for Germany, that says a lot about him," said Van Persie told the Arsenal website.

"Take the highest level for eight or nine, scoring many goals and proving to be a good footballer. Shoot very well with the left, and you can play two different positions, which is important for us because we usually share a lot of our place in the field, "he said.

Van Persie, author of 34 goals and 14 assists in 45 games this season, is scheduled to meet this summer with club leaders to address their future.

"We have not set a date, but I'll have a meeting with the leaders, as we have done so far," he said in remarks published in 'Metro'.

The Dutchman acknowledged the influence of his coach, Arsène Wenger, in his career, noting that, even if you do not renew his contract, "I will always be 'gunner'" (Arsenal).

"Arsenal are a great club. If I am the player I am today is thanks to Arsenal," he added.

Van Persie continuity is therefore in the air. Barça would not be alone in the struggle to sign him. Real Madrid, Inter and Juventus are close also. His transfer could be closed for about 30 million euros. (via SPORT)
