After the game against Betis, the Barça players concur that the team will be completely focused on the last match of the season. Víctor Valdés said that the team is eager and preparing for the final match of the year and he sent an optimistic message regarding next season. “We hope to win the Cup. This season two important titles have slipped away, but we’ll be back as strong as ever next year,” he said.
After drawing with Betis at the Benito Villamarín in the last game of the Liga (2-2), the Valdés’ team-mates congratulated the keeper on winning the Zamora trophy, given to the keeper that concedes the least amount of goals in the competition. On the award, the keeper said: “I was very excited with the prospect of winning my fifth Zamora and equal Ramallets. I’ve always looked up to him.”
The Catalan player said that it is more important win than concede goals. However, Valdés said that this Zamora trophy is a testament to Barça’s defensive work. “It’s not a priority, but it’s important for the team to win this award,” said Valdés, who also reiterated his regret for not winning the Liga title.
Finally, the Azulgrana keeper praised Betis: “they are a team that play excellent football. Both teams had chances to score and, in the end, we ended with a draw.”
