Barça dreams get 3 points today

Barça play their game knowing what the result of Osasuna, Real Madrid.
The Navarre has shown this year that the Reyno is a very complicated feud for visitors.

What seemed impossible a few weeks ago, and it is not. Mathematically the Pep Guardiola have real opportunities to fight for La Liga and as shown by the six points that separate them from Real Madrid, but could be reduced to three goals when FC Barcelona managed to impose his game in tonight's clash against the Athletic Bilbao (22:00 h transmission Canal +) for Week 31.

Demonstrated by the team of Marcelo Bielsa, who comes to win 4-2 at Schalk 04 in the first leg of quarterfinals of the UEFA Europa League, plus the two goals that put Barca in first leg , are an added pressure for azulgrana.

On the other hand, Real Madrid will have it easy either in the Reyno de Navarra (20:00 h transmission Canal + / Goal T) if you want to stay away from Barcelona and Osasuna should contain a condition that will leverage its local rout revanchar 7-1 Real Madrid struck him in the leg.

The 'rojillos' have got 29 of his 43 points in the impressive 'fort'. In addition are the fourth team in the league that has won more points at home and the fourth fewest goals, statistics reassuring coach José Luis Mendilibar and give you the confidence to snatch three points leader. (via MD)

Barça-Athletic: Saturday comeback

Pep was parked in Milan and announced that Barça will "all" to win a large Athletic knowing and the marker of Osasuna-Madrid.

Exciting Saturday in the fight for the League. A 9 days of the end of the tournament reaches one of those dates marked in red on the frenetic "turnaround operation 'that started Barça in recent weeks, when the champion was cut from ten to six points disadvantage against Real Madrid. Real Madrid will visit Osasuna (20 h.) At the Reyno de Navarra, one of those stages is always uncomfortable for everyone. Just after (22 h.), Barça receives in the Camp Nou to Athletic Bilbao, "the sensation of the season in Europe," as defined Pep Guardiola gave yesterday, referring to his upcoming opponent. The other owner who left the azulgrana coach is that today will go "with everything".

After a 0-0 draw in San Siro, the second leg Champions League quarterfinal against Milan on Tuesday it will not diminish the potential and the desire of the azulgrana equipment against Athletic, as promised yesterday Guardiola.

That does not prevent rotation can be any point of any undisputed, for example Xavi. It seems clear title to Cesc after being a backup in San Siro and is likely to play Adriano, yesterday still low. The game's incentives are competitive and football. So Guardiola urged the fans to go to Camp Nou. And that no one red herring, because although it is Saturday and the match starts at ten, the TV coverage of Barça-Athletic is not open (Channel +1). Guardiola insisted yesterday proclaiming his admiration for Marcelo Bielsa, the Argentine coach who has transformed the Athletic one of the most attractive teams in the world for the viewer. It is still very fresh red and white display on Thursday in Germany against Schalke 04. So fresh that has sparked controversy by the closeness of the match at the Camp Nou, in a mess of schedule in which Barça has no responsibility.

With virtually Athletic classified in the Europa League, which today can not be ruled Bielsa do rotations even less than usual. You may take it as a dress rehearsal for cup final that your Athletic and Barça played on May 25. Barca half league today might be suitable to be played three days given the existence in the Champions League. (via MD)

Iker Muniain: 'The Botxo Messi'

Iker Muniain, the shining pearl of the Athletic, was tempted by Barça when he was only 13.

Iker Muniain Goñi (Pamplona, 1992), a player-cooked fast in the quarry of Lezama, is one of the great strengths of Athletic during his visit to Camp Nou, where Barça receives some lions that are being hoarse roar both in Europe. 'The Botxo Messi', which ended with a goal of the flag of his team great match against Schalke (2-4) of the eternal Raúl lives a brilliant career.

Muniain was the youngest player to debut with Athletic (he did 16 years, 7 months and 11 days, compared to Young Boys in Europe Legue) also broke the record for earliness in the history of Chelsea (scored his first goal in Valladolid before the age of 17) and has already debuted with the senior team. With 13 years could sign for Barca, but his dream was more important to succeed in the Athletic.

Footballer with the center of gravity low, hard to knock down, quick as lightning, elusive and enviable driving and kicking ball, soccer Muniain fit nicely at Barça of Guardiola. His style is inspired, relatively speaking, in the 'Ballon d'Or '. On Youtube you can watch videos with the best moves, dribbles and goals by Iker with the name "Iker Muniain New Messi '. For the young Athletic crack, "Messi is the number 1".

When playing in the Chantrea (Pamplona neighborhood in which he began to give the ball), Barça was set at Iker and came to contact with their parents. In the end, the boy chose the Athletic, the team of the family. But his beginnings in the Bilbao club were hard. It was not easy to leave home as soon and see their parents only on weekends. However, his cousins Adrien and Julen Goñi, who were in the ranks of Athletic, helped to integrate into their new life. Cadete aged just 14 years, and Navarre made the first team preseason with Joaquín Caparrós.

Muniain has an excellent relationship with azulgrana Thiago Alcántara, beside which won the European Under-21 last summer. Ronaldinho is the idol of Navarre, who never missed a game his own at the Barça. Iker highlights "the magic he had in the field and joy, transmitting, always with a smile on his face."

Muniain spread much joy in the locker room Athletic, where they have become accustomed to his jokes. His best friends in the template are Ander Herrera and Javi Martínez, but his protector has long been central Fernando Amorebieta, who gave him the nickname of 'Bart Simpson', a character that identifies Iker. "Good boy, but a little gamberrete" he laughs.

Athletic young talent has a great sense of humor. An admirer of former athletic Sergio Agüero put your pet, a beautiful Labrador, the name of 'Kun'. "I sit on the couch and brings the drinks," he boasts proudly of his helpful can.

His girlfriend is named Sandra Martín a professional model and cheerleader of Bizkaia Bilbao Basket, Muniain which is staunch supporter. Iker, early star and one of the most talented football match Messi. What a show! (via MD)

Messi will have a surprise party

The Argentine will be honored for being the top scorer of Barça history. It was fair after beating César.

The crack of FC Barcelona will now be an institutional tribute the player has scored more goals for the club's first team. Leo Messi beat the legendary César Rodríguez (232 goals) last March 20 at the Camp Nou against Granada, by signing a hat trick `what make his mark by 234 points, noted that adding the last Saturday in Mallorca rise and your account to 235.

The club did not disclose what it will be the recognition he has prepared for the squad, just to be a surprise to the player, but Sport has learned that the idea was to bring the widow of the former Barcelona striker of 'Zinc Copes' Emma Revillo, and her granddaughter Julia at Camp Nou. And there, beside a bronze bust of César, photographed with Messi, although the player unable to attend, it would be a close family member who would represent him in his name. Would thus symbolized the transfer of records between Leon and Argentina.

The board believes that an event of this nature, overcome César he accumulated 232 goals in his time Blaugrana, deserved a special award. And in the first game hosted by the Camp Nou after the record, Messi will have the honor to write another historical pages of the club.

Such acts further magnify the legend of the crack, which seems determined to continue breaking records that put him within range.

rack awaits, just today, a new personal record. And, to score against Athletic, add one hundred league games scoring goals. Currently has 99 since signing the first Barça-Albacete the 2004-2005 season.

In this course scored in a game. In the following, 2005-2006, did it in 5. Account rose to 9 in 2006-2007 and left at 8 in 2007-2008. But Pep Guardiola on the bench his scoring production has skyrocketed: 18 goals in the 2008-2009 season, 20 the following two (2009-2010 and 2010-2011) and the current sum and 18 league games looking door. Ahead is still 9 games of the championship home to overcome another brand: score in 20 league games a season. And the rhythm that leads seem to fall.

In total, Messi has scored in 150 games: 99 league, 31 Champions League, 12 Copa del Rey 4 of Supercopa of Spain, 3 in Club World Cup and 1 European Super Cup. And of those 150 games, where the '10' wet, the club has won 134, drawn 14 and lost only 2. Some figures that speak for themselves and reflect the importance of Rosario on the computer. A Leo there is no challenge that can resist. Today, with the team, go to hunt another one. (via SPORT)

[La fiesta de Messi]
After 12 goals in three games at home, with surprise tribute today will be overtaken by César.

Four Valencia, five to Bayer Leverkusen and three more to Granada that first catapulted him to the historical ranking scorers in official matches of Barça. This is the amazing balance of Leo Messi in his last three games at the Camp Nou witnessed his greatest achievements tonight filmmakers and star of more than fitting tribute for having surpassed the 232 goals from César. Now with 235 to his credit, the crack will receive the recognition of culés in a brief ceremony before the start of the match against Athletic will include a surprise. The club will encourage interactivity with the public and will warm your goals in the markers.

El 'Rey Leo' will face the 'Lions' for the second time in the course after breaking in the first round his spell in San Mamés and force it 2-2 in 91'. Its primary objective will be the victory and extend their winning streak to four league games against Athletic door watching at home. Messi has always marked in the three visits 'was Guardiola'.

With 35 goals in 28 appearances, a record of the history of Barça in the championship, commands the 'Trofeo Pichichi matched with Cristiano Ronaldo, but want more after seeing San Siro truncated his series of eight games scoring. Author of 55 official goals, Pep Guardiola always held that there are still challenges for Leo. On a night where he will remember the figure of César, Rosario could get even closer to its 190 goals in league. Messi, azulgrana second gunner in the First Division, has 154.

If today tuck a hat trick, nothing ruled in the case of Argentina, would equal a mythical figure: the 38 goals that did Telmo Zarra, Athletic legend, in 30 League games 1950-51. Hugo Sanchez (Real Madrid) signed the same in 35 shocks of 1989-90. The record, 41 for daily Marca and 40 for the remainder is held by Christian from the last league. There are nine days and Leo has shot the new historic high and be second culé behind Quini to win two Pichichi. The 'Witch' it did in 1980-81 (20) and 1981-82 (26). Leo won the first with 34 in 2009-10. Not be the last. (via MD)

Barça, in the footsteps of Nicolás Tagliafico

Barça technical secretary is looking for new talent to strengthen the team next season.

One is Nicolás Tagliafico, Banfield left-back defense, in whom the club would have been set to cover the floor of Eric Abidal. And is that next to liver transplantation should be subjected to the French player has left the team of Guardiola lame in that position. This is the club azulgrana's interest in Argentine footballer, a member of Pep Guardiola would have crossed the pond in recent days to see this player live, according to local press point. And is that Barça and took time to follow closely this player, who played with good performances and the U-17 World Cup Nigeria 2009 and U-20 Colombia 2011. But Tagliafico not the only player to follow up the scout azulgrana. Lanus striker Silvio Romero Esteban Andrada and his goalkeeper would also be targets of this journey. Both players are also on the agenda of the Catalans. (via SPORT)

Cesc played, points to the bench

The Arenys suffered a puncture in his back last Thursday that he ruled for tenure.

Pep Guardiola have significantly disrupted the plans in the face of tonight's game since his initial idea was to align Cesc Fàbregas in the starting lineup against Athletic Bilbao, but the accidental injury of Arenys, who suffered a puncture on his back on Thursday after training at the facilities of Inter Milan, has forced him to rethink his slate.

The midfielder, who yesterday did not even trained with the rest of his companions stayed in the gym where doctors took the opportunity to make an infiltration in the affected area so it could be at least on the bench for the match against the Basque side.

So the reality is that Cesc is not one hundred percent today, so its presence in the starting lineup is virtually ruled out. That does not mean it is low, as infiltration allowed to play one of the game without pain, but will have to start from the bench at best.

To reassure the fans, to see that this is a very minor injury that does not preclude being a hundred percent on Tuesday against Milan. In fact, one can not rule out Cesc plays today a few minutes if the coach deems it appropriate, but clearly not to contest the ninety minutes.

This setback will prevent Pep to rest some of his pupils with more overhead of minutes or more susceptible to injury. If your intention was to give players a breather as Alexis and Iniesta, now just may do as much with one of them. Nor could exclude that the sacrifice was Xavi Hernández, who finished the game limping after receiving a blow from Ambrosini, but in any case the Terrassa has exercised two days normally.

The big news in the lineup tonight could be Thiago and Pedro. Two names that could give a fresh team, as the first or even played on Wednesday and the second only took a few minutes.

It is clear that the alternative defense of rotation are much smaller, but Adriano today to receive discharge. In any case, a defense of three would make it easier to book a player for the final advance which is next Tuesday at the Camp Nou. Although there is no doubt that it would be a very risky bet against a team that plays so well to the touch and the counterattack as Athletic. (via SPORT)

"That teacher or student is justified by works. Look Guardiola's work and mine and see who and who is a student teacher. No, I'm not the teacher, because the things that I have built in football does not justify this condition, much less if you compare with Guardiola has built, "said Bielsa.

"That, he added, positions it in proportion to the feat of building a football team with a better and different, executed by the players who chose and imagined by his mark." But recalled that his relationship with Pep is minimal, reduced only to a meeting held for years, Bielsa recalled with humor that meeting of nearly of nearly eleven hours. "I managed to bore in the eleventh hour, but I think that from the beginning was well and did not dare leave," he joked.

"It's the only time I saw life. Do you admired? Course. A player emblematic, unforgettable part of a team and built the team that built. But I attribute a relationship, I wished he had, because is a very valuable and enrich the relationship with any human being. "

In any case, wanted to stress the importance of speaking the meeting, stressing that respect to play against Barça "is always wonderful for any opponent, hopefully we can keep up when it is up to us."

"It's a dream, an illusion. Nobody can inhibit it (Camp Nou), is a difficult challenge. Never went there," said Bielsa, who reminded the party of the first round, which ended in a draw.

About that meeting, said his team "had a hard time getting him out even and have reached the end, having starred in an even game."

About fatigue that his team can accumulate the Europa League match played on Thursday, the Argentine said "never justified" on that occasion, but what I most admire about Barça and Real Madrid is "familiarity to compete twice week with an insuperable opposition. " (via SPORT)

Athletic is already in Barcelona

The Athletic of Marcelo Bielsa arrived Friday to Barcelona, where they face FC Barcelona in La Liga match.

Eusebio: "We have to keep growing and moving up the standings."

Barça B wants to end March with a good dynamic. And is that the azulgranas accumulate two draws and two wins this month. For his part, Nastic de Tarragona, bottom club in the standings, three points need to keep believing in salvation. This Saturday (18.00 hours), therefore, is hosting a Catalan duel in which there is much at stake.

The set of Eusebio Sacristán unbeaten during the month of March. Two draws against each other against Recreativo and Sabadell, and two victories in the Miniestadi, against Alcorcón and Alcoyano have reinforced the squad for this new game of the season. This has been assured the azulgrana coach: "These two wins have strengthened us and given us peace of mind needed to be in a comfortable situation." However, Eusebio asked not satisfied with the current situation and go beyond: "We have to think that we can continue to grow. We must continue in this line to continue rising."

Spotlight on Athletic Club Bilbao

“The Lions” are one of the most successful teams in Spain and their unique policy of playing only Basque players, together with the fact they are owned by their members, gives them a special place in the Basque social fabric.

Athletic Club are, together with Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, one of just three teams who have never dropped out of the Spanish first division since it was founded in 1928. During that time they have won the league title eight times and on five of those occasions they won a league and Cup double, indeed only FC Barcelona have won more Spanish Cup titles. Athletic Club Bilbao was founded in 1898 by a collection of expat English shipyard and steel workers together with young Basques who had travelled to Britain and 31 years later they became the
first team to win a La Liga title without a single defeat during the season. In all, they won four titles in the pre-civil war era, although they also managed one in the 40s and 50s (when the team featured the legendary Telmo Zarra up front) it wasn’t until the early 80s that they managed another, taking the ‘81 and ‘82 titles
under Javier Clemente.

Athletic Club are closely associated with the cause of Basque nationalism, with their policy of only playing Basque, or Basque connected players. The team’s second kit has the Basque flag colours and the first ever public display of an Ikurrinea after the death of Franco was at a game against Real Sociedad in
December 1975, when the two captains ceremoniously placed a giant Basque flag in the centre of the pitch.

This has been a great season for Athletic, with Marcelo Bielsa introducing a level of skill and passing, which has sometimes been lacking from the Basques traditional blood and thunder approach. They seem to have saved their best form for the Europa Cup, with two great games against Manchester United and this week’s win over Schalke, which looks to have virtually assured a semi final slot, but their league form has suffered something of a dip, with three defeats and a home draw against Sporting Gijon in their last four games. That run has
seen them drop from being Champions League contenders to their current more modest 11th spot in the table. Athletic are also, of course, due to play FC Barcelona in this year’s Spanish Cup final.

The Cup Final will just be the latest time the fates of the two historic teams have been entwined. Right back in 1930, the Basques inflicted what is still the Catalans heaviest ever defeat with a 12-1 thrashing, whilst in 2009, Guardiola’s team took the Cup title as part of their historic treble-winning season beating Bilbao 4-1 in the final. The rivalry of the 80s and Goikoetxea’s infamous fouls on Maradona and Schuster is water under the bridge now and there was a fantastic friendly atmosphere between the two sets of fans in Mestalla, which is sure to be repeated at this year’s Vicente Calderón Cup final - and indeed at the Camp Nou
on Saturday.

Bilbao’s sparkling young team is full of stars, with Fernando Llorente the main man up front, ably supported by Munuain, Susaeta and De Marcos, whilst many of Europe’s top teams are eyeing up the versatile Javi Martínez, who has shown he can be equally effective at the back or in midfield. Guardiola: "Against Athletic it’ll be a demanding game but good to watch"

Pep Guardiola foresees an intense match against Athletic Bilbao, a team that he qualified as the "Sensation of Europe".

The manager recognises that all teams need days of recovery between matches, but he believes that Bielsa’s team will give their all on Saturday at the Camp Nou, despite having played on Thursday.

Josep Guardiola believes that his team will do well not to think that Athletic Club are coming to the Camp Nou with the 'handicap' of having played 48 hours before in their Europa League match. The manager, who watched Bilbao’s win against Schalke, said that the Basque outfit "is used to working at maximum effort. They are educated to believe that they can do more". He also thinks that they won’t come out at the Camp Nou thinking more about the European game than this one. "They can win, lose, or draw, but they can dominate in games and always have chances to win them".

He recognises that for both Barça and Athletic it’s better to have more rest days between matches, but accepts that "the schedule is what it is ... it’s better to have three or four days rest but teams that want to reach Finals have to play lots of games, one after another, in this situation," he said.

Guardiola was once again full of praise for Marcelo Bielsa, the Athletic Club manager. "I think he’s the best and believe me it’s a pleasure for me to go up against him," he said. Given that, he recognises Bielsa’s role in taking Athletic to the top and didn’t hesitate in saying that "they are the sensation of Europe. They’ve earned the right to have the admiration of everyone".

About the dangers of the next opponent, Guardiola has watched Bilbao’s last few games, as well as Barça’s game in Bilbao in the first part of the season. "They usually play with the same players. The matches I've seen are a pleasure for the spectator. It’ll be a really tough game, very demanding for the players, but good to watch".

Athletic Club, and Barça’s situation coming into this match with the Champions League qualifier in between, is a good stress test for Guardiola if they want to win more titles. "If we want to be champions of the League, the Cup, or Europe, we have to overcome these circumstances. Overcoming them is the only way, bearing in mind possible difficulties. We have to look forward and take another step".

But first of all the players have to be mentally prepared for the game this Saturday, and not the Milan match. "If we’d been focused on another match and not the next one, we wouldn’t have won 13 out of 16 titles". So now it’s the Athletic Club match, and from Sunday there'll be time to focus on the return leg of the Champions League. (via FCBarcelona.com)

Barça’s penultimate training session before the visit of Athletic Club Bilbao on Saturday

The first team trained at the Camp Nou immediately after returning from Milan. Adriano joined the session, and began to work with the group, as did Eric Abidal.

Immediately on arrival from Milan, where, on Tuesday, they played the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Champions League, and where they stayed until this Friday as a preventative measure due to Thursday’s general strike, Pep Guardiola’s team went straight to the Camp Nou. There the team trained in the first of 2 sessions planned before facing Athletic Bilbao on Saturday night, in the League.

In addition to the 21 players who travelled for the game against AC Milan, Adriano trained, and began to work with the main group on Friday, together with Eric Abidal. Remember that, in Adriano’s case, the Brazilian suffered a muscle strain in his right thigh, in the game against Granada on the 20th of March.

On Saturday morning, as usual on match days at the Camp Nou, the players will end up polishing details for the match against Athletic Bilbao, which kicks off at 22.00, so they go into the game with maximum guarantees. The first team are back in Barcelona

The team managed by Pep Guardiola landed in Barcelona at 11.45 and went straight to the Camp Nou, where they’ll train in preparation for Saturday's game against Athletic Club Bilbao.

The FC Barcelona first team is back in Barcelona. The squad, who left their hotel at 9.10, flew from Milan at 10.30, and landed at El Prat airport at 11.45. Remember that, after Tuesday's game at the Giuseppe Meazza (0-0), corresponding to the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Champions League, and due to the general strike on Thursday, the squad stayed in the Italian city yesterday, as a preventative measure.

For that reason the squad didn’t train at the Joan Gamper training ground as is normal the day after a match, but instead, they trained at the Giacinto Facchetti Sports Centre, on one of Inter Milans training pitches. Now, back in Barcelona, it’s time to focus back on the League, and that's why, immediately after landing, the Barça squad went straight to the Camp Nou, where training is scheduled to start at about 13.00. After training, Guardiola will appear at a press conference. (via FCBarcelona.com)

A very attacking Athletic Bilbao come to the Camp Nou

Athletic Club Bilbao maintain the roots they’ve always had, but Bielsa has added a courageous footballing style, including some points in common with the Barça philosophy.

An attacking style, good ball movement, and pressure high up the pitch to recover possession, are some of the similarities between Guardiola’s Barca and Bielsa’s Athletic Bilbao.

Barça will play at home this Saturday, at 22.00, against the most attack minded Athletic of recent years. The Lions are now not only race and character. The arrival of Marcelo Bielsa as manager has brought a new style of play. It’s a brave footballing proposal, with a clear attacking style, with good ball movement, and no room for speculation. It’s a style of play that has some points in common with Barça, and has made this Bilbao side into one of the most admired teams in Europe.

Bielsa has been able to convince his players, and now they all row in the same direction. They use suffocating pressure to quickly recover possession of the ball, and once they have it, they pamper it and play it, and are offensive-minded. Footballers like Muniain, De Marcos, and Susaeta, look for the ball continually, Llorente is the reference in attack and Iraizoz’s first option is not to play the ball long.

The Bilbao match this Thursday in Gelsenkirchen is the latest example of their style of play. Athletic fought back from 2-1 down and ended up winning 4-2 away at Schalke in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Europa League. Two goals from Llorente, one from De Marcos, and another from Muniain, opened the door to the semifinals for Bielsa’s team. On Saturday they’re at the Camp Nou and they are not there just for the ride. (via FCBarcelona.com)

The Italian press gives reason Barça in their complaints on the lawn of Meazza

Milan can rely on the referees, who gave how good the pitch, but the popular outcry against the state of the lawn is not a single complaint Guardiola and his players but the reporting of own Italian media they consider "shameful "the grass of the Meazza.

The prestigious daily general 'La Repubblica' states that "the field presents some difficult conditions, so that even Messi looked like a beginner. The sliding field, the ball hangs, gets up and plant grass on the fly and players get injured in San Siro. Gattuso's knee, Samuel, Jankovic, Inzaghi, Marilungo, Ambrosini, Pato ... Galliani confirms that the solution is to artificial turf. "

'La Gazzetta dello Sport' dedicates a wide array of the type of synthetic turf placed in June, after Springsteen and Madonna concerts, and reveals that so far this season have made five changes from the grass. When the club has played in November, were newly placed sod of turf from an Italian nursery and grass instead of Wednesday came from France. Are spent each year 500,000 to 900,000 euros. "

While 'Corriere della Sera' speech on its front page "of an old problem that comes from the 90's. The lawn is in pretty bad shape. Xavi talks about 'potato field' would not have translation in Italian, a potato field might say, the fact is that Guardiola's complaint is clear. Now Milan and Inter have agreed to make joint grass. "

'Corriere dello Sport headline: "Chaos in San Siro" and notes that "Arsene Wegner and complained in his heat but Guardiola complaints have reached the owner Berlusconi pointed out that injuries always Pato arrived at San Siro" . (via MD)

Barça should focus on the Athletic before challenge against Milan

Barça should not focus only on his challenge against Milan, the visit of the 'Lions' is also key to la Liga.

Josep Guardiola warned in advance of the visit to San Siro that the club faces a decisive week in the Champions League and, with two crucial matchups at the Camp Nou. "If we fail to Milan and Athletic have lost the choice of two titles."

For that reason, Barça coach is warning his players not to focus only on the momentous return next Tuesday against the Italians since the visit of Athletic on Saturday, may also be key to this league.

Morning (20.00 h.), Madrid faces Osasuna in the Reyno, scene of the final defeat of Barcelona and in which the meringues will defend its 6 point lead.

The Navarre found in European positions and long stay in the elite, while whites have enjoyed a day of rest that culés. In addition, the return to the Apoel quarter will be a mere formality for Mourinho, after sentencing in Cyprus (0-3), avoiding any psychological strain.

Two hours later, the club, with an eye on the landmark visit next week at the Stadium AC Milan after a 0-0 draw in San Siro, host Athletic, the final outpost of the Copa del Rey teams that will compete in both the May 25 at the Calderón.

The azulgrana have, in theory, be measured with the advantage of a break hardly Athletic after last night's clash against Schalke 04 in the Europa League. And this match is that between Germany and the start of the visit to Camp Nou, they will only take 47 hours.

With this little room, Atletico coach, Marcelo Bielsa, has preferred that his players will not return to Bilbao. Last night they took a charter flight in Cologne for Barcelona. The Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I will be his headquarters. Bielsa has designed a workout this afternoon (19.00 pm), closed at the Mini-Estadi.

The Basques end and to prepare his game against a Barça did that already suffer a great time in the first round. A Leo Messi goal in minute 91, avoided defeat azulgrana in San Mamés (2-2). Athletic deserves as much respect as Milan. The Champions League and inevitably go to the Camp Nou. (via MD)

Ander Herrera, the image of Iniesta

It was a hot night of the June 30, 2001. Real Zaragoza had just proclaimed champion of the Copa del Rey against Celta (3-1) in the stadium of La Cartuja in Seville. During the celebration of the title by club members and friends in the club 'El Coto' of the Lebreros Melia, only one man was not freed from nervous tension and continued. "I go to sleep early that morning traveled to Madrid." It was the team's technical secretary rolled, Pedro Herrera.

That Sunday his son Ander, who was 11 years, contesting the final of the Football Championship Alevín 7 with Zaragoza at the Oviedo. The set Aragon prevailed and Anderson was voted player of the tournament.
This recognition was always linked to their career and their equipment. Years later, Herrera cadet champion of Spain, also with Zaragoza.

He debuted with the first team in Second Division, to the Levant, and had the misfortune to coincide with the worst time in the history of Aragon set. That will create some problems, because his father, who was also the technical secretary of the glorious era in the club (of which the conquest of the Recopa in 1995 is the best example) began to be punctuated by criticism.

There were those who even hinted that Anderson was the first team was only by his father and not on merit. But besides football quality, this proved to be promising young head on his shoulders. From the outset, wanted to separate the familiar from the professional. His father, intelligent few, let his son fly alone.

Ander suffered a lot during his last stint as zaragocista. Two seasons ago, was a spectacular offer Athletic. The Basques were three times what the player charged with Real Zaragoza, but he refused for his "heart zaragocista." I did not want to leave the club thrown at a time so distressing.

It was also followed by the club, but no firm proposal. Finally, the economic precariousness of Zaragoza led him to accept an offer of 8.5 million euros for the player variables. That was in January 2011 and his move to the Basque side did not occur until July. Before and despite the fact that I was going to wear the shirt 'blanquilla', Anderson did his best to save Zaragoza from relegation. I got into the final day victory in the Levant area (1-2).

The time has come to smile this season. Their presence in the Athletic coincided with a period of major change in the conception of Basque football team with high aspirations. The 'Lions' are qualified for the finals of the Copa del Rey and the Champions League quarter, which aspire to two titles.

With Bielsa as coach, Athletic trust their game to the players. Attractive football is perfect for the characteristics of Ander, an attacking midfielder exquisite technique, great vision, good passer and not without a goal. To take two examples, scored the first goal in the European Under-21 final with Spain against Switzerland (0-2). The second Thiago did.

And also scored the winning goal in the league match this season in San Mamés ended an unbeaten run of 896 minutes by Victor Valdes, a record in the history of Barca over previous Miguel Reina (825).

He has always said that his idol is "Andres Iniesta" and many people compare their football. "I do not reach even half of what it's worth," he says modestly. In fact, his admiration is such that even for a time had the picture of your account profile of 'twitter' a picture in which there are two.

Two seasons ago, after a game at Zaragoza fell to 6-1 in the Camp Nou, Herrera was able to get something I had always dreamed to have the shirt of his idol. "The most grateful is that he wanted to keep mine," he says.
With the Copa del Rey final is still far away, on Saturday Barça and Athletic in La Liga face off at Camp Nou.

Ander draws a strong long pubic discomfort. Doctors have advised that it operates, but it now took him to miss the season finale. The midfielder did not want to leave her team and playing with pain, rather than their publicly thanked. If you hold on, it's likely to happen under the knife at the end of the season. Meanwhile, his bravery and his exquisite football is still there to be enjoyed. (via MD)

History on Barcelona’s side

Whenever Barça have drawn the first leg of a Champions League tie under Pep Guardiola, they have eventually qualified for the next round.

On Tuesday at the Camp Nou we will see whether Barça or Milan go on to play Chelsea or Benfica in the semi finals of the Champions League after the first leg ended 0-0 at the San Siro. That’s a result that gives Guardiola plenty of reasons to feel optimistic about his side’s chances, for history is very much on his side. Since he became coach in 2008/09, he has successfully guided the team through 25 out of 27 two-legged encounters. The only ones he has ever lost were in the same season, 2009/10, first in the round of sixteen of the Copa del Rey against Sevilla, and later in the Champions League semi final against Inter Milan.

Guardiola’s Barça has drawn four Champions League first legs, and the players have always responded by eventually sealing qualification. The first case was in 2008/09 when a 1-1 draw away to Olympique Lyon was followed by a convincing 5-2 victory at the Camp Nou. Later in the same competition came one of the most memorable moments of the Guardiola era. Barça and Chelsea met at Stamford Bridge to battle for a ticket to Rome after the game at the Camp Nou had ended scoreless. An Andrés Iniesta strike in the very last instant was enough to secure a 1-1 draw and qualification for the final by virtue of the away goals rule.

The next season, Barça also drew two first legs but went on to qualify. In the first knockout round they crossed paths with Stuttgart and drew 1-1 away before cruising into the quarter finals with a 4-0 win at the Camp Nou. In the following round they met Arsenal and drew 2-2 at the Emirates before a magnificent Leo Messi scored all four goals in a 4-1 win at the Camp Nou that ensured passage into the semis. [Former player] Edmilson: "80% of what is now Barça owes it to Ronaldinho"

Edmilson, former player of FC Barcelona, is full of praise for Leo Messi and Ronaldinho.

During the meeting with Band, Edmilson begins by explaining his memories of Leo Messi. "I played with him when he was climbing the first team. In training people and saw that it was a different player, for its quality, boot speed, ball control ... That was in 2004. Over time , was over and began to summon. he played his first game and soon scored his first goal since. But one of the things I always admired about him is he still the same person. the other big difference is that he is surrounded by controversy, is always very discreet. And that is very significant in the professional world. "The Brazilian added that "people know that Leo would be a great player, even at that time, when Ronaldinho was in a breathtaking moment. Ronaldinho and Leo was started to have the leadership that had Ronnie. Since 2007 Messi has continued a line of play, goals, titles that are unusual.

The former Barcelona player was asked if Barça best of his era or the current. "These are different times. That Barca in my time and was the basis of the present, with Xavi, Iniesta, Valdés, Puyol .. There was even a time when Eto'o playing. The technical difference is that our team was more direct. Ronaldinho grabbed the ball and start. Today Barça has that torn with Messi, but also has possession of the ball, everyone believes that is the distinguishing feature of this Barça. "

On the pressure he felt the team while playing in the Champions League or, Edmilson explains that "in my time there was much pressure because Barça had won only one Champions in 92. And won again in 2006. From 1999 to 2004 Barça won no league. When I had that pressure for the title because it was eight years since winning la Liga and many more that did not win the Champions League. We had to win or the League or the Champions League. Today I believe that the objective is equal or move to Madrid in the Champions League. has four titles Barca and Real Madrid, nine. the difference is great, but now Barça can prioritize the Champions ".

As there, the former Barça player, refers to much praise Ronaldinho. "It was an outstanding player at Barça. Not know what happened. Came at a critical moment, he won it all, changed the history of Barça. All that is today he owes Barcelona by 80% to it. In decided to leave time for other experiences in other club in Milan. And unfortunately unable to sustain the level that had been in Barcelona. " (via SPORT)

Piqué wins the first assault on Ibrahimovic

Great match from the central to his friend Zlatan, but the Swedish striker had a chance Valdés stopped him and he could change the analysis.

"What have I done to deserve this?" Had to wonder to himself Piqué and Ibrahimovic when their eyes met seconds before the match starts. Although they get along very well, he just smiled, even with some 'false', trying to bully each other. It was inevitable that the two share the same thought: "What a little night I will give it".

And he did. You could say that Piqué Ibra won the pulse. The defense kept a clean sheet and the striker scored. But football is not so simple. Especially with a monster like the Swedish. Gerard completed a performance level of his best days at Barça. And yet Zlatan had a chance to go there if forced to analyze everything differently.

The first fumble Ibra shot it head to yield it to Robinho, who missed. It was a rebound after a shot uncontrollable Boateng. Nothing to blame for Gerard, but the Swede has a magnet.

In the next quarter hour, the center gave a lesson in positioning and anticipation, by land and air. But Piqué knew I could not relax. And although he did, from 17 'to 20' Ibrahimovic desmelenó.

First uncheck indicating to Seedorf, who left him alone with Valdés. Fired space, but loose and plugged the hole doorman. Piqué was relieved, but not for long.

The first time Ibra removal from the center of the rear in a long ball to the left, the Swede beat him with relative ease, but his pass into the penalty spot was unsuccessful.

And from those two actions until the break, Piqué reimposed a hierarchy admirable. He gave his ex-partner option, but it sure went to the locker room thinking about those three minutes that Ibra could do harm. So precautions still end in the second half.

While all his movements measured around Ibra, a player that uses the body as a weapon to move to your bookmarks. The Catalan control him with intelligence knew without going into the physical fight.

But Ibrahimovic also knows improvise. And when the total concentration of Piqué in the area of '9 ', began to fall into the playmaker, opening bands play in the race to reach the top. And even put a good cross from the winger.

By 75 minutes, the two took a break to benefit from the slow retreat of Nesta after his injury. They exchanged some pleasantries, preamble to the final chapter of the film. Milan's long balls to the prolongations of Ibra looking head, but with a friendly and definitely Piqué winner of the first assault. (via MD)

And is that the San Siro game has shown that "you can get," in your internal pages titled "Corriere della Sera" to indicate that you have lost the fear of Barça and now anything can happen.

The same operator chooses the newspaper "La Republica": "You can get", noting that although slowed Milan Rome generalist newspaper notes as if "they saw little of Messi, Ibrahimovic was least."

All players, trained and press, seem satisfied how it ended the first act of this tie.

All but one: the president and patron of the club, Silvio Berlusconi, who after the meeting said: "I have some remarks to make about the game." (via SPORT)

Guardiola: “Our fans cannot let us down on Tuesday”

The Barça manager urged Barça fans and members to attend the match at the Camp Nou on Tuesday and help the team qualify for the semifinals.

Guardiola is clear that to be Champions League winners against that the team must “overcome thousands of things, and do an even better job [than last year]”.

The fact that Milan is satisfied with a goalless draw is the “highest form of praise” for Guardiola.

Josep Guardiola urged FC Barcelona fans and members to attend next week’s Champions League showdown with AC Milan: “Our fans cannot let us down on Tuesday. They need to come to the stadium and carry us to the semi-finals. These players have done too much to be abandoned. This Tuesday we have a final in our stadium with our people. We need the Camp Nou to be full. We have a chance to go through and between us all I believe it’s possible.”

The Barça manager considers that Milan’s satisfaction with a goalless draw at the Giuseppe Meazza is “the biggest of compliments,” although he warned that the return match at the Camp Nou “will be terrible” and that “there’s no room to speculate.” Guardiola continued: “A tie is never finished off in the away leg. However, keeping the condition of the pitch in mind, shooting 17 times is meritorious. Milan have seven European Cups, and we went toe to toe with them.”

Referring to the last match between the two sides in the Group Stage, which ended in a two-all draw, Guardiola is clear that “in the world of football, whatever happened before doesn’t matter.” He added: “We know that it will be a terrible match. Milan have very talented players and they they defend well. This is why our fans need to cheer us on more than ever. We only have one option, and that’s to win - between all of us we won’t fail.”

On the condition of the pitch at the Giuseppe Meazza, Guardiola said that his players deserve a lot of credit “playing football or, at the very least, trying.” The manager said “something needs to be done. In the end we adapt to everything, we come and we play. But it’s clearly a problem for the show. It’s also true that to be champions you have to overcome every challenge. We’ve done it in the past and we’ll keep on doing it.”

Guardiola, who refused to talk about the referee, said that “everything is difficult. We’ve won a lot of things, we’ve drawn and we’ve lost. In the latter two we’ve never talked about the referees. To be Champions of Europe again we must do an even better job.” (via FCBarcelona.com)

[UCL; 1/4; Leg1] AC Milan 0 - 0 FC Barcelona

Barça took a 0-0 draw from Milan at the San Siro tonight - leaving the return game at the Camp Nou to decide who gets through to the Champions League semi-final.

Milan were hemmed into their own half, especially before the break and at the end of the game.

It’s all square after the first leg in Milan, with Barça undoubtedly the winners on points – having dominated, particularly in the first half and making the chances – with three good penalty shouts ignored. However, in football it’s goals that count and Barça weren’t quite able to get on the scoresheet tonight, leaving the Camp Nou to decide who gets through to the last four.

Although it was Barça who dominated throughout the first half, Milan had the first chance, when Robinho failed to put away a good chance after just 2 minutes after Milan had pressed the Barça defence to get possession. Messi’s genius soon began to come through though and after about ten minutes the team began to settle and threaten Abbiati - who committed what looked to be a clear penalty on Alexis on 15 minutes.

Barça now began to take control – despite the poor state of the pitch – whilst Milan were forced back and tried to hit the visitors on the break, with Valdes making a good stop from one such counter when Ibrahimovic got through. It was becoming an all action game though, played at a hectic pace which really didn’t suit Barça’s game plan.

But Barça were not to be held back and they soon imposed themselves, with Xavi coming close to repeating his goal in the 2-3 result in the Group stage, only for Abbiati to push his effort wide. The Milan fans were whistling at the extended periods of possession Barça were enjoying, as Guardiola’s men began to lay siege to the Milan area, forcing the Italians to sit ever deeper.

Milan brought on El Shaarawy for Robinho soon after the break and that seemed to give them an extra boost, as they opened up a little, only to come up against an impeccable back four. The game entered a rather less exciting phase now and Guardiola brought on Tello on 64 minutes to inject a little more penetration.

With the youngster out on the left, the team certainly recovered some of their sharpness and only some good covering denied Messi on 77 minutes, with Puyol getting on the end of the resulting corner and also looking to be fouled. Milan’s defence was never going to be easy to break down though and they appeared to accept the draw as a good result as they withdrew even further back. A double chance for Messi and Alves and what looked like another penalty committed on the Argentinean nearly ruined the Italians’ game plan, but in the end it’s all to play for next week at the Camp Nou.
